It's some delightful news that we might not have expected anymore: 12 years after season 2 and over 5 years after the manga's conclusion in Japan, Sawako is getting a 3rd animated season!

For now, we only know that this new season will be produced by Production I.G. studio (already behind the first two seasons) and will be exclusively available on the Netflix platform in 2024.

Let's recall that this series, which became a staple of the 2010s in its genre, is a 30-volume shōjo by Karuho Shiina, which often ranked high in sales in Japan and is available in France through Kana editions. Still enjoying a strong popularity among its fans, the work recently received a drama adaptation (available on Netflix in France) last March.

Overview of Sawako:

Young Sawako, with her long black hair and somewhat gloomy demeanor, frightens her classmates, who prefer to avoid her or tease her. Rumor even has it that she can see ghosts or cast spells on you! Timid, introverted, and extremely sensitive, Sawako struggles with this forced marginalization. However, she is genuinely kind and goes out of her way to try to prove it, always ready to help whenever she can. Only Kazehaya, a charismatic young man with devastating charm, seems to not care about what people say about Sawako. He greets her every morning and even offers her some advice: if Sawako can overcome her shyness and approach others, telling them what she really thinks, everything should get better. But it's not that simple... It's indeed challenging to combat prejudice!
