A new trailer for Kaiju No.8 has surfaced, showcasing the Japan Defense Force's battle against kaiju and providing a glimpse of the newly unveiled theme songs. The trailer offers fresh footage, capturing the ongoing struggles against the monstrous creatures.

The opening and ending themes for Kaiju No.8 are performed by YUNGBLUD and One Republic, respectively. YUNGBLUD sings the opening song titled "Abyss," while One Republic performs the ending song called "Nobody."

Furthermore, it has been announced that the anime will be available for streaming on Crunchyroll and the social media platform formerly known as Twitter (X) starting from April 13. In addition, Sembongi Sayaka has been confirmed as the voice actress for the character Konomi Okonogi.

The anime production team includes directors Shigeyuki Miya (Afterlost, The Kawai Complex Guide to Manors and Hostel Behavior) and Tomomi Kamiya (A Good Librarian Like a Good Shepherd, Hikari: Kariya wo Tsunagu Monogatari), series composer Ichirou Ohkouchi (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch of Mercury, Code Geass), character designer Tetsuya Nishio (Naruto, Vampire in the Garden), kaiju designer Mahiro Maeda (SSSS.GRIDMAN, Evangelion 3.0+1.0 co-director and concept art director et al.), kaiju supervision by Studio Khara, color design by Izumi Hirose (Tengoku Daimakyou), art director Shinji Kimura (Children of the Sea, Blood Blockade Battlefront), compositing director Eiji Arai (Psycho–Pass Providence), music composer Yuta Bandoh (Belle co-composer), and animation production by Production I.G.

Kaiju No.8 is an adaptation of the manga by Naoya Matsumoto, published by Shueisha. The manga first premiered in 2020 on Shonen Jump+ and currently has 11 tankobon volumes as of November 2023. VIZ Media provides the following description for the manga.

Kafka hopes to one day keep his pact with his childhood friend Mina to join the Japan Defense Force and fight by her side. But while she’s out neutralizing kaiju as Third Division captain, Kafka is stuck cleaning up the aftermath of her battles. When a sudden rule change makes Kafka eligible for the Defense Force, he decides to try out for the squad once more. There’s just one problem—he’s made the Defense Force’s neutralization list under the code name Kaiju No. 8.
