Shigeru Mizuki's 100th-anniversary film will open on November 17. The official website for the forthcoming all-new anime feature film Kitaro Tanjou - GeGeGe no Nazo has posted a 90-second "final" trailer including new footage.

Kitaro Tanjou: GeGeGe no Nazo‘s premise involves Medama-yaji and Kitaro entering the ruins of Nagura Village, which causes the former to recall the events that occurred there 70 years ago. The film is part of a 100th-year Birth Anniversary project for the late GeGeGe no Kitaro creator Shigeru Mizuki, which includes a new Akuma-kun anime.

The cast for Kitaro Tanjou - GeGeGe no Nazo include:

Go Koga (Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters, Gegege no Kitaro: Nihon Bakuretsu!!) serves as director, alongside screenplay writer Hiroyuki Yoshino (Macross Frontier, World Trigger), character Toko Yatabe (Evangelion Rebuild assistant director) and Toei Animation as animation production.

Along with the Netflix series Akuma-kun, n 2023, Kitaro Tanjou - GeGeGe no Nazo is produced to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the GeGeGe no Kitaro original manga author Shigeru Mizuki's birth. It is set in the 1950s and tells the story of Kitaro's birth and the hidden mystery of his father, Medama Oyaji. The GeGeGe no Kitaro manga series followed in 1965. The first GeGeGe no Kitaro anime was broadcast from 1968 to 1969, while the last prior to the 2018 version aired from 2007 to 2009. It is the GeGeGe no Kitaro anime franchise's first theatrical film in 15 years since Gegege no Kitaro: Nihon Bakuretsu!! in 2008.
