Eiris finally breaks open. She tells Ren the truth: they were not merely companions — they were lovers, bonded by a blood-oath of the Hollow Covenant. When Malveth discovered their bond, he threatened to harvest Eiris's soul as a power source. Ren, unable to defeat Malveth directly, made a deal: he would take the Scar of Oblivion onto himself willingly, erasing Eiris from his own memory. If Malveth's curse only works on those who already love — then by forgetting Eiris, Ren would become useless to Malveth. He sacrificed his love to save her life.
